FCA Scammer List For W/E 13/06/25
The Financial Conduct Authority keeps an updated list of all the licensed firms in the UK called the Register. They also keep a list of firms known to them who are trying to scam you and the link for that is above titled FCA Warning List. Clone firms are people or companies who look like genuine, authorised firms but in reality are unauthorised scammers pretending to be the real deal. Badger Loans have had experience of people trying to do this to our customers. You can read about that here.
You wouldn’t buy a car without first checking the finance so don’t take out a loan before checking it’s coming from a real lender!

Hints, Tips & Hacks for Credit Repair
🔧 6 Smart Credit Repair Tips You Actually Haven’t Heard Before
1. Challenge Outdated Financial Associations on Your Credit Report
If you're listed as financially linked to an ex-partner, flatmate or old joint account holder, it can drag your score down. Even if you haven't been connected to them for years. Ask all three UK credit reference agencies (Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion) to remove these outdated financial associations by submitting a “Notice of Disassociation.”
2. Switch from Direct Debit to Manual Payments for a Short-Term Boost
Lenders like seeing active money management. Instead of letting direct debits tick along, try switching to manual payments for a couple of months and make them a few days early. It shows you’re engaged and organised. This can positively affect internal scoring models, especially with banks you’re already using.
3. Remove Old 'Settled' Defaults if They’re Past 6 Years. Even if They Show as Satisfied
Some “settled” accounts will still appear even after the 6-year mark, especially if updates were logged late. It’s worth checking with each credit agency and requesting removal if the six years are genuinely up. Don’t assume it happens automatically, it often doesn’t.
4. Get a Certificate of Satisfaction for County Court Judgments (CCJs)
Paid off a CCJ? Ask the court for a Certificate of Satisfaction (£15 fee at time of writing). Once done, send it to the credit agencies. It won’t remove the CCJ, but it marks it as satisfied which is much better than leaving it as unpaid. Lenders do notice the difference.
6. Add a Landline Number to Your Credit File
Most lenders still associate landlines with stability. Adding a working BT (or similar) landline to your main address via electoral roll updates or bank accounts can help signal permanence. Especially if old-school credit scoring models are still in play. An internet phone also does the trick as long as there’s a normal BT prefix like 0207/ 01803/ 01278 etc.
7. Freeze Dormant Accounts to Prevent Unauthorised Use or Data Breach Impact
Got an old credit card or store account you never use? Don’t just leave it hanging. Contact the provider and ask for it to be “frozen” instead of closed. It keeps the age of the account contributing positively to your score, but removes risk of it being used or flagged in a fraud scenario.
